I’m a fair weathered acquaintance to breast cancer. There was only a passing glance between the two of us until the diagnosis. Now we’ve become quite intimate. I have to say…I don’t much care for her. She’s quite a bitch to deal with. Wakes me up in the middle of the night, screws with my appetite, makes me want to scream, causes a great deal of pain, and scares the crap out of me regularly.

So I figured I should capitulate and do something productive to beat her down…in me and in others.

I’ve tossed and turned a dozen ideas over the last 2 months. There are a couple of things I really enjoy – jewelry and retail therapy.

Concept: Ladies like to buy things to carry around positive thoughts for their friend or family member who is fighting breast cancer and they like jewelry. Retail therapy and jewelry melded together in perfect harmony.

Solution: Necklace with Locket to hold picture of friend of family member, adorned with hand wired beads and the hand crafted breast cancer ribbon symbol.  Locket and chain in any metal (brass, copper, silver, gold, bronze), and hand wired beads in any color. Breast cancer ribbon can be made from any color metal. Can be built with precious metals for additional charge to cover costs of materials. Will have options for different locket styles as well.

I will say this model locket is not my style. Its a little too frilly and decorative. I prefer a more vintage and modern look but this is one of the lockets I had on hand to mess around with. This is not a final product – just a concept.

Cost: TBD. I’m still in the development phase…researching best materials, streamlining production…any ideas – please feel free to share. I tend to say what I think of ideas all the time, and I appreciate others that do the same thing. But don’t throw me an idea without some background research…I don’t need anyone to create work for me. Do that enough for myself.
